My system is FC5, with a usb optical mouse. In my experience, issues
with a mouse that works are usually the protocol. I have this in
xorg.conf


As another test, if I click and hold the left mouse button on the map, the program will keep zooming in until I release the button. On windows, it zooms in only one level.
