Just a hunch here... Did you try re-installing Eudora into the new
environment?
After upgrading wine you should probably run winecfg to update the fake
registry.

You're using native ole32 with builtin rpcrt4. This uses
undocumented functions in rpcrt4 and will not be
fixed. Either install native rpcrt4 and set both
to native or set them both to builtin.

That was the problem. Using winecfg I set Libraries * to native. Eudora v4.2 and v5.1 are now working again (wine v0.9.32 on Ubuntu 6.06). Thanks to Rob at WineHQ for the help.
