I could use some help setting up Exact Audio Copy using wine 0.9.24 and
SuSe
10.2 with KDE 3.5xx
My problem is finding the audio cd, If I put in a data disk, hal will
update /media/.hal.mtab will have an entry and create a temporary
mounting
point such as /media/new I probably could use that in winecfg to set up
a
mounting point for wine. However if I insert an audio disk, the hal
system
does not create any mounting points nor can I find a way to create one, it
only lists /dev/hdc any place in kde and if I try to mount /dev/hdc it
gives
me an error.
I tried creating the following :
creating the file:
/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/95userpolicy/mountpoints.fdi
and running
then as su:
rchal restart
but I still don't get anything I can find with winecfg
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <!-- -*- SGML -*- -->
<deviceinfo version="0.2">
<device>
<!-- optical drives -->
<match key="block.device" string="/dev/hdc">
<match key="volume.is_disc" bool="true">
<merge key="volume.policy.should_mount"
type="bool">true</merge>
<merge
key="volume.policy.desired_mount_point"type="string">cdrom</merge>/mnt/cdrom
</match>
</match>
</device>
</deviceinfo>
Is my above code wrong? I was not sure - (the editor in kmail may throw it
off
as well)
I didn't have any better luck using /etc/fstab, perhaps a conflict with
hal
and udev, or I am doing something wrong.
The problem isn't wine but my inability to get winecfg to find and use my
cdrom.
thanks in advance
joe

Hi !
VIRTUA TENNIS works fine (very fine and better than Cedega) , except
sound (problem with initialising DirectXAudio. Error code : 0x88780078)
and the game screen don't fit the desktop or fullscreen resolution: his
parent window seems not be able to re-size itself.

My system :
Ubuntu EdgyEft
NVIDIA 5200 FX / 512MB RAM / AMD Athlon 2800
Wine 0.9.30 with fresh configuration directory
Demo and original CD of VIRTUA TENNIS (version 1.0 and 1.1) tested.
Note : * CD protection works fine, so you don't need a no-cd patch.
* Demo installation works
* Installation from CD don't works, I used cedega for extract
the game directory
* Tips play for with it and for better performance : run
VTCONFIG.EXE and pickup 640x480 resolution (you will be able
to see a rather playable area of the court) and with my
Nvidia 5200FX I have to pickup low details option for a
good framerate.
* Sounds works with an emulation but the game crash after
the "push start" screen (maybe a pb with music).
VIRTUA TENNIS on my "nunux" system Raaaahhh ! The dream comes true !!
I tried many things for fix the windowed problem but no success, any
suggestions ? Thanks.
For the sound issues, try using Wine's OSS driver.

All,
The system is fc6; the wine version is .30. Wine has appeared to be
getting faster for a couple of months; however .30 seems to have taken a
large step. It is much faster. Has anyone else noticed this?
