ALSA recognizes that your sound card does not support sharing of your
input device, and so it creates a virtual device (dsnoop) to handle
this.

You should get the same sound in both apps, it shouldn't matter that
dsnoop is in use.

If you really want to fiddle with this, I think you can override
defaults by supplying a /etc/alsa.conf.

If you are having problems with ALSA, their mailing lists might be
more appropriate.


The problem here, is that the sounds from the HRM are not being picked up by
the microphone.

Could be a totally unrelated issue.

Can you pick up the sound with a non-wine program?

Are you sure that dsnoop is using your microphone input and not your line in?

Do you have two soundcards (builtin + PCI) - I know, long shot, but
might as well ask.
