Just a guess: you are running the binary nvidia drivers?
Iirc there was a bit trouble with them and some of the changes in 2.6.15.
Upgrading the drivers should help.

Thats the only thing that comes to my mind.



Yes but I have to run the old 8178 drivers because of missing textures in unreal
tournament. Until theres a fix I'm stuck with those.
Maybe you can keep that version and grab just all the patches from nvidia
