yes, with wine version 20041019 (as got from the official debian repos, including packages winelib,winelib-* and winesetuptk), dvdshrink could play. The play/stop buttons were enabled, while with 20050111 they are not.
The problem I had is that dvdshrink froze quite often using 20041019

with the former, the application seems to lock up much more often.
with the latter, the ability to play the movie (e.g. to see which audio stream to include) is disabled.
Did you get it playing with 20041019? I get it working with WineTools and it is included in the next release, but playing does not work and I know of no installation where it works. If you get it working send me you config, please.
