[Wine]mscreate.dir again

On the Jan 2005 release ex$el hangs on a "cannot create mscreate.dir" 
error. There is a dcom5.exe patch - has anyone gotten that patch to 
work? Where is it? What are the steps? Does the install work under wine? 
etc. etc.
