Yes, I believe you do have a point. With each Wine install, I reinstall my apps.
Hmm... I've been using Wine for more than 4 years, and regularly recompile/reinstall Wine (from CVS, but that doesn't really matter). I have never resintalled apps (except for testing installers). There is no reason that I am aware of to do that.
