There are two problems with meetingmaker 8 under wine: Something is causing it to consume a lot of cpu cycles even when it seems to sit completely idle. At the same time it prints a lot of messages like this to the terminal:

fixme:htmlhelp:HtmlHelpW ((nil), L"\5d90\414b8\4036", 253, 7548422): stub

Does it help if you run wine like:

WINEDEBUG=fixme-htmhlp wine ...

Another possibility is to use a native hhctrl.ocx

It didn't have any effect, but native hhctrl.ocx just fixed the problem completely so I decided to stop worrying about it. So thank you.

Another problem is that some very simple widgets don't seem to work anymore. I don't know how these are called in windows api, but all sorts of text entry widgets don't seem to get drawn to the screen. This is bad as well.

Such display problems are very difficult to debug locally and far worse
remotely. If there is a demo version available for download that has
this problem also, fill in a bug report at http://bugs.winehq.org with a
pointer to the download site.

I'm not aware of a demo. and another problem is that you'd need a real working server + client installation to reproduce so it would be quite a hassle. What I tried is using different native versions of comctl32.dll. This has an effect and some things work better than before.

Now I'm interested in which dll's (or so) do the actual drawing and handling of simple widgets like one line text entries? Scrollbars? Is it comctl32.dll and nothing else or does this in turn use some other libraries?

Also, it doesn't make any sense to me that (at least visually) exactly the same one line text entry widgets work in some places (logging in to the system) but not in another places (about everywhere else in the program.) Could this be a clue to something? Another clue is that the problem is strictly visual. If you enter something to a text entry, it will be understood properly, only not displayed on screen.
