With regard to the actual upgrading process, you may run into DLL
incompatabilities or issues since W95/W98 might have had different DLLs
or exes installed or different routines run on machines since the two
OSes supported different routines in coding. However, switching
emulation modes from w95 to w98 should be relitively flawless.

I'm not 100% sure about wine differences - I doubt there will be many
DCOM-specific ones that are also wine-specific.

In MS Windows, there were vast diffs between DCOM95/DCOM98. Since
Windows 95 was much older, it had extremely vast differences between the
original shipped DLLs (of which there were about ten million versions)
and the final DCOM95. Windows 98 and 98 SE shipped with somewhat more
updated DLLs, making DCOM98 less of a jump. Because Windows 98/98SE was
newer, it had more features in it's DCOM, and should technically support
more apps. It should also be noted that (as of writing) that
W98/W98SE/DCOM98 are still supported by MS, whereas W95/DCOM95 aren't.

Of course the W95/W98 wine implementations aren't perfect, but if they
were, there should/would be little difference, apart from additional
support, possibly more effientiency, better supported routines -
everything should still work the same (or better).

Hope I helped, and good luck.
