Someone on the list has been smoking too much, there is no such thing as a stable release, wine is alpha software. If you want something semi-stable, wait until the beta version is ready, or wait for version 1.0 is you really want it to be stable. >From the wine ANNOUNCE file: This is still a developers only release.
