vfat, fedora core 1 and missing files

Hi, I'm using Wine version 20040505 built from CVS, and
having difficulty seeing files on mounted vfat drives.
If I run:
$wine notepad

Then in the open dialogue I can safely browse through
drives linked to ext3 or cdrom filesystems, but if I
start at g: or h: (linked to mounted FAT32 fs), then
I can't see all the files and directories (although
there's no obvious pattern to the ones left out), and
notepad will lock up trying to navigate the filesystem.
I also get the lock up if I start from z:\mnt and try
to open a mounted vfat.

[ian@localhost dosdevices]$ ls -l
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx  1 ian ian 11 Jun  4 18:13 a: -> /mnt/floppy
lrwxrwxrwx  1 ian ian 17 Jun  4 18:13 c: -> /home/ian/.wine/c
lrwxrwxrwx  1 ian ian 10 Jun  4 18:13 d: -> /mnt/cdrom
lrwxrwxrwx  1 ian ian  4 Jun  4 18:13 e: -> /tmp
lrwxrwxrwx  1 ian ian  9 Jun  4 18:13 f: -> /home/ian
lrwxrwxrwx  1 ian ian  9 Jun  4 18:15 g: -> /mnt/winc
lrwxrwxrwx  1 ian ian  9 Jun 11 18:26 h: -> /mnt/wind
lrwxrwxrwx  1 ian ian  1 Jun  4 18:13 z: -> /

Has anyone seen this before?
Also, is there any way to search the list archives other
than google?
