dear list! i just subscribed to the list and have a question regarding fonts under wine. in the archives (and those of other lists) i found similar problems but no real solution. as the subject says, instead of the real fonts i see lots of ugly rectangles. as far as i can see the problem started after trying to install a particular programme that maybe uses asian fonts (i won't try to install it again). it was on the cd that came with my scanner. the first time the problem occurred i decided to delete the whole $HOME/.wine directory (including fake_windows) and let wine build the fonts metrics from scratch. apart from some errors (with unknown character settings, e.g. uni) there was no problem with the metrics and wine worked fine again - until i started the 'SETUP.EXE' of the already mentioned programme. is it possible that one single programme damages my wine font metrics? and what can i do to prevent programmes from breaking it? how can i rebuild the metrics? i found two scripts on the web, but they only rewrite truetype-fonts to postscript-fonts - one by one - and that's not exactly what i want. my xfs and xfstt font servers are working fine - allthough i don't really need them as i use xfree86 ver 4.x - and i have the m$-fonts installed ... i'm using debian whith the wine build from 2003-06-18 (i.e. ver 0.0.20030618-1). thank you for your help! cheers, pablo ps: here's an excerpt of my config (i didn't change the default settings): [fonts] "Resolution" = "96" "Default" = "-adobe-helvetica-" "DefaultFixed" = "fixed" "DefaultSerif" = "-adobe-times-" "DefaultSansSerif" = "-adobe-helvetica-" -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LONG LIVE THE RED PENGUIN AND THE SOCIALIST WORKERS' WORLD REVOLUTION! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -- PABLO HOeRTNER aka RED TUX pablo@slp.at or redtux@gmx.net visit http://www.redtux.at.tf _______________________________________________ wine-users mailing list wine-users@winehq.com http://www.winehq.com/mailman/listinfo/wine-users
