In order to have wine working good with TTF I got Freetype 2.1.4 .
I compiled and installed it and now I do expect that somehow the directory where my windows TTF fonts are should be passed
somehow to Wine/Freetype.
How?
Wine by default looks in windows/Fonts on your Wine C: drive. If any TT fonts are found there, Wine should automatically use the FreeType direct rendering.
For other locations of fonts, look at your ~/.wine/config file at the [FontDirs] section.
