When you say the "Desktop" line, are you referring to the wine.conf
file? If so, I see a few of them, mostly related to display...

; Use a desktop window of 640x480 for Wine
;"Desktop" = "640x480"

and there is also

"DesktopDoubleBuffered" = "N"

which is not commented out...

When you installed, from where did you install?  I copied the
w32n_allclient.exe file onto a cd and am using

wine w32n_allclient.exe to install.  It does start the installer, but it
hangs...and freezes...
