Second, assuming by "a blank file gecko" you really meant "an empty directory named gecko," is the full path to the directory you created /usr/share/wine/gecko? That's where Wine will look for gecko; creating a "gecko" directory somewhere else will not work. Third, you don't run the msi file directly; Wine uses it to install gecko to the wineprefix. You run Wine's iexplore by typing Code: wine iexplore at the command line.
