Okay, I've gone as far back as I possibly can. Completely nuked wine, winetricks, .wine, ~/.cache/winetricks, and reinstalled everything. Ran a winecfg. This is as fresh as it _could_ be, and yet "winetricks vcrun2008" still fails. I'm using wine-1.3.34 and winetricks-20111115. Even better, the installer is giving me the following handy message: "The following error occurred during setup: Installation failed." WHAT could be going on here?
