Using wine from git, and the latest download of Trillian, I ran into http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28719 as dimesio suggested; doing rm ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/winsxs/manifests/x86_microsoft.vc90.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.4148_none_deadbeef.manifest let the app run. I didn't see any problem showing contents. I'm on ubuntu 11.04, with wine from git. I might try 11.10's default wine if I have time.
