Problems Installing Windows Software

I am using Slackware 9.0. I couldn't get Wine to install from the 20030408 source so I installed a Slackware package of it. I tried installing dcom98, ie explorer 5.0, and Work Suite 2001. None of them installs, dcom installer says that an newer version is already installed and to remove it first. This is impossible since it isn't installed. Works Suite installation causes a seg fault. Ie5setup just hangs.

Here is my config file:

Here is the problem areas shown from running "perl ./winecheck" after running "wine regedit winedefault.reg:

--------------------- checking system devices used by Wine ---------------------
022. Checking sound device /dev/dsp... OK.
023. Checking audio mixer device /dev/mixer... OK.
024. Checking MIDI sequencer device /dev/sequencer... BAD (no kernel drive r for /dev/sequenceror used by other program?).
- ADVICE: module loading problems ? Read /usr/src/linux/Documentation/modules.tx t.

----------------------- checking registry configuration ------------------------
025. Checking availability of winedefault.reg entries... CRITICAL (entry "SHAREDMEMLOCATION" not found in system.reg registry file).
- ADVICE: file winedefault.reg, the most basic wine registry environment, doesn't seem to have been applied using regapi.
026. Checking availability of windows registry entries... NOTICE (entry "Default Taskbar" not found).
- ADVICE: A Windows registry does not seem to have been added to Wine as this typical Windows registry entry does not exist in Wine's registry. A complete original Windows registry entry set will *not* be available with a no-windows install. Usually this will present no problem in running applications although this can affect newer programs.

26 tests. 0 suspicious, 1 bad, 1 critical, 0 failed.
Wine configuration correctness score: 80.75%
