Hello, i'm working in software development company,
and we have a custom made software in VFP 6, as we're thinking on replacing all
our
win9x boxes to linux (since we got rid of those
hard-to-manage-and-prone-to-error nt boxes) since we mostly use this app for
everything, we
tried to run it in Linux using wine.
i downloaded the latest wine release, the
codeweavers release and a CVS one, none of them seem to work and all displayed
this error
So i went to the mailing list archives and found
that there had been some regressions in the wine code, and it advised to
run wine-20010510,
after compiling and installing this release, it did
exit (wine) with the same error, not giving up, i played with the --winver
option, and found that
wine --winver win2000 app.exe, and wine --winver
nt40 app.exe both did run the app ok, some minor drawing errors, but everything
was ok;
until i came to the part where printing was
needed and, i found that printing didn't work, after reading the wine users
documentation, i added the [ppd]
section but had no luck.
Then i joined #winehq in irc.openprojects.net,
i was asked to try my printing system with Abiword for windows, after installing
Abiword with wine, and running it with --winver
win98, i found that indeed the printing system worked, as printing documents
from Abiword worked flawlessly
not so using Abiword with --winver win2000 (nt40),
whom in the printing dialog, did show a "dummy" driver for printing..., going
into the source i found out that
the wineps.drv is only 16bit, and win2000/nt40
don't support win16 drivers.
is there anyway that this app could run in --winver
win9x mode? can this "heap" errors be solved?
this is my ~/.wine/config: http://www.reconfig.net/~atax/config
and the errors with wine --winver win2000 app.exe :
http://www.reconfig.net/~atax/error.txt
any help will be really appreciated.
