A hypothetical question ....

First of all, this isn't a troll or a flame, it's a serious question.
(Well, OK, two.)

Is *ANYONE* known to have *EVER* gotten WINE to work with any Xserver
other than XFree86? (AccelX, MetroX?)

When was the last time anyone *tested* it on anything other than XFree86?

I ask this because, about five years or so ago, I was using the WINE that
was current at the time on XFree86 with a Video7 VRAM-II Ergo video card.
Around four years ago, I rebuilt my machine around a new motherboard with
a Matrox Millennium II video card. XFree86 didn't support the Millennium
II worth a damn at any resolution over 1024x768 (and even at 1024x768, it
looked like crud), so I switched to using AccelX, which was pin-sharp and
rock-solid at 1600x1200x32bpp@75Hz.

Some months back I started trying to reinstall WINE again, and on AccelX
(now v6.0, v5.1 when I started trying) I have yet to get WINE to display
one window. As far as I can tell, it's simply failing to communicate with
the Xserver.
