*Call for Volcanic Photos & Videos â?? Can You Help?*

Dear Geologists and Volcanology Enthusiasts,

At the University of Colorado Denver (USA), students are developing a
citizen science application called *Did You See It*, designed to collect
visual chronologies and evidence of volcanic eruptions and activity. This
initiative is supported by *Dr. Arianna Soldati* at North Carolina State
University (USA).

ð??? *Explore a previous version of the app here*: https://www.didyouseeit.org
<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.didyouseeit.org/__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!aD7u1eWcaYNNGP5TVObgJcfWQYgSYizixkSvfW0FbTKFwD4i8javE0ihvD6BhHsoEG2VubVI49MpKo5GZSYZ11nc2Q$>
You are welcome to create an account and upload volcano-related images. The
app also includes instructions for downloading a *progressive web
application (PWA)* that functions offline.
*Why We Need Your Help*

We have recently enhanced the app to support *batch uploads* and use photo
metadata (location and camera settings) to *measure active volcanic
features*. To refine this functionality, we need *high-quality volcanic
imagery and video* for testing by *March 6, 2025*.
*Photo & Video Requirements*

â?? *Content:* Images and videos must capture *active volcanic features*,
such as:

   - Ash plumes
   - Lava flows
   - Geysers
   - Lava fountains
   - Calderas
   - Pools
   - Fumaroles

â?? *Timeframe:* Photos must be taken within the *last 10 years* and retain
their original metadata, including:

   - Latitude, Longitude
   - Elevation
   - Field of View (FOV)
   - Date & Time

â?? *Quality & Privacy Considerations:*

   - Images *must not* contain people (faces will be blurred if detected).
   - Videos should be *under 70 seconds*, preferably without people.
   - We welcome multiple images of the *same volcanic event* over minutes,
   hours, or days.
   - We also welcome submissions from *multiple individuals capturing the
same event* with different devices (to test cross-camera consistency).

*How to Submit Your Photos & Videos*

Please contribute your files through *one* of the following methods:
ð??¤ *Upload to OneDrive*: [PhotosVideosForDIDYOUSEEITTesting] (Contact:
debra.parcheta@xxxxxxxxxxxx)
ð??§ *Email a ZIP file* to: *debra.parcheta@xxxxxxxxxxxx*
ð??? *Provide a download link* from your own cloud storage to:
*debra.parcheta@xxxxxxxxxxxx*

*Important Notes:*

   - Uploaded images will become *publicly viewable* after moderator
   approval.
   - Ensure your deviceâ??s *location settings were enabled* when capturing
images. You may need to adjust your *photo library settings* to export
   metadata.

We greatly appreciate your contributions to this project. Your photos will
help refine an innovative tool for studying volcanic activity worldwide.

For any questions, feel free to reach out.

*Thank you in advance for your support!*
