Dear colleagues,

The Piton de la Fournaise Volcano Observatory (OVPF-IPGP) is seeking a
seismologist to join its team as the scientist in charge of seismological
monitoring of the Piton de la Fournaise volcano, La Réunion island (Indian
Ocean). This position is part of the 2025 national recruitment campaign of
the Conseil National des Astronomes et Physiciens (CNAP) under the Section
Terre Interne.

The OVPF is part of the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP) and
is responsible for the permanent monitoring of volcanic activity at Piton
de la Fournaiseâ??one of the most active volcanoes in the worldâ??as well as
the ongoing seismo-volcanic crisis at Mayotte. The observatory operates a
dense instrumental network (seismic, geodetic, geochemical) and provides
real-time surveillance to anticipate eruptive activity, assess hazards, and
contribute to scientific research on volcanic processes.

The available position is for a Physicien Adjoint, a nationally appointed
position as part of a tenured-track recruitment in the Corps national des
astronomes et des physiciens, of the French ministry of research to be
appointed at IPGP and to be based at the OVPF-IPGP in La Réunion. This
position is designated to strengthen the seismological activities of the
OVPF-IPGP as a contribution to the National service for observation in
volcanology of the CNRS-INSU. The profile of seismologist for the OVPF-IPGP
has been selected as one of the four priority targets for this recruitment
campaign which is open to all other disciplines of the Terre interne
section of the CNAP.

The selected candidate will be involved in real-time seismic monitoring,
methodological developments in volcano seismology, and research on the
seismic activity of Piton de la Fournaise and its interactions with
magmatic processes.
