Dear Colleagues,
In view of the next IAVCEI 2025 held in *Geneva*, Switzerland (29 June â?? 4
July), we would like to draw your attention to the following session:

(Theme 5) Session: Unlocking geothermal plays/systems in volcanic settings
from cross-disciplinary perspectives
>From the IAVCEI Volcano Geology Commission, we invite contributions that
unravel how volcanic processes create diverse geothermal plays/systems,
emphasizing the roles of magma, hydrothermal fluids, facies architecture
and structural controls in forming viable geothermal sources, conduits and
reservoirs. Key topics for discussion include:

   - *Volcanic Systems and Geothermal Energy: *We are particularly
interested in how varied volcanic systemsâ??monogenetic, polygeneticâ??impact
reservoir formation, connectivity, and productivity. Comparative studies
showing how volcanic and volcano-tectonic structures influence geothermal
plays/systems are encouraged, with a focus on pathways for hydrothermal
fluids and the resulting reservoir networks.
   - *Volcanic Facies and Energy Exploration:* Volcanic facies, with their
distinct sedimentary environments, influence the characteristics of
geothermal reservoirs, barriers or conduits for geothermal fluid migration.
Contributions exploring how real volcanic facies/structures/architectures
can be linked to seismic facies or other exploration geophysics attributes
can offer insights into optimizing exploration strategies and identifying
   new geothermal plays.
