Dear everyone,

We invite you to submit abstract contributions to our session â??*Towards
Enhanced Forecasting of Volcanic Systems through Integration of Data and
Physical Modeling*â?? under â??*Theme: 2. Pre and syn-eruptive monitoring*â??,
for the upcoming IAVCEI Scientific Assembly in July 2025 that will be held
in Geneva, Switzerland.

*Abstract submission extended until 10 January 2025*

*SESSION ABSTRACT*
Understanding volcanic systems and forecasting their behavior through
physical models constrained by multi-parametric in-situ and remotely sensed
data is increasingly crucial as the volume of available data grows. In
particular, integrating time-series data from airborne and satellite-based
remote sensing with ground-based observations (e.g., seismic, gravity,
GNSS, tiltmeter) is effective for testing magmatic models. When data and
models are combined through parameter estimation methods (e.g., Bayesian
inference, data assimilation) and/or AI techniques, forecasting volcanic
system parameters on operationally relevant timescales becomes more
feasible.
This session invites contributions on works related to observations of
volcanic unrest, eruptions, and long-term volcanic processes, as well as
demonstrations of analytical, experimental, and physics-based models
combined with multi-parametric datasets to enhance understanding of
volcanic system processes and improve hazard mitigation. Presentations that
highlight model-data fusion strategies and leverage state-of-the-art
techniques (e.g., inversion, data assimilation, machine learning) are of
special interest.
