Dear colleagues,

We would like to invite you to participate in our session *"**Advancing
equity and diversity for a more inclusive future in volcanology"* at the
IAVCEI Scientific Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland (29 June - 4 July 2025).
This session is part of Theme 7: Communication in volcanology. We are
excited for a wide range of presentations that fall within the following
description:

*The global nature of volcanic hazard and risk means that volcanoes both
affect, and are studied by, an extremely diverse range of people around the
world. Representing these diverse experiences and perspectives in our
research is necessary to effectively tackle the grand challenges of
volcanology. Therefore, consideration of issues of diversity, equity, and
inclusion (DEI) are essential for our field to build a collaborative
community for conducting research, as well as when developing studies and
considering the impacts of our research on people who live in volcanic
areas. In this session we solicit studies that discuss topics related to
DEI in volcanology. This includes studies that consider DEI directly within
the makeup of the volcanological community, volcanic research that
incorporates DEI into its methodology, educational approaches that address
recruitment and retention of volcanologists from historically underserved
groups, and efforts to promote DEI within our field.*
