8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8 From: Eric Breard <Eric.Breard@xxxxxxxx> Dear Colleagues, We invite submissions for one exciting session at the IAVCEI Scientific Assembly, taking place from *29 June to 4 July 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland.* ----------------------------- *Session: Multidisciplinary Advances in Understanding Pyroclastic Density Currents* *Description:* Pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) are among the most hazardous phenomena associated with explosive volcanic eruptions. Their complexity, with internal transport regimes ranging from turbulent transport to dense granular flow, necessitates comprehensive and multifaceted research approaches to better understand these flows. Recent advances in field studies, laboratory experiments, and numerical modelling have provided new insights into the dynamics, transport processes, and sedimentation of PDCs. Despite these advancements, significant challenges remain in accurately estimating their behavior and impacts. This session aims to gather cutting-edge research and foster discussions on the latest developments in PDC study. We encourage submissions highlighting novel methodologies and interdisciplinary collaborations. We welcome contributions presenting new field data and observations, showcasing innovative experimental setups, introducing various numerical modeling approaches, and discussing case studies of volcanic events.
