Dear Volcanology Community,

We invite you to submit an abstract to our session, â??Integrating approaches
to understand magma dynamics through monitoring, petrology, and modellingâ??
at the IAVCEI Scientific Assembly 2025.

The dynamics of magma migration play a crucial role in determining the
intensity, onset time, and potential duration of an eruption. Such
parameters are often inferred through pre- and syn-eruptive monitoring of
volcanic activity, including petrological analysis of freshly erupted
samples. This session aims to foster connections within volcanology to
unravel physical processes governing volcanic activity and aid in
interpreting monitoring signals before and during eruptions, along with
petrological evidence. We invite studies that employ experimental,
analytical, or numerical methods, either independently or in combination,
to understand magma dynamics, particularly those that incorporate
petrological and experimental approaches.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

   - Innovative numerical models simulating magmatic processes and eruption
   dynamics.
   - Analogue modelling approaches to understand magma feeding systems or
   conduit processes.
   - Modeling approaches that integrate petrological data.
   - Advances in experimental methodologies for characterising volcanic
   processes in laboratory settings.

The deadline to submit your abstract is December 20, 2024.

Best regards,

*Charlotte Barrington* (Asian School of the Environment, Nanyang
Technological University (NTU) , Singapore, Singapore) on behalf of
conveners,
