2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 From: "Ramsey, Michael Sean" <mramsey@xxxxxxxx> The Department of Geology at the University of Pittsburgh is currently searching for a tenure-track hydrology position (see add below). The scope is broad, however, note that one potential area is in volcanic processes. These could include hydrothermal, magma-water interactions, and surface water systems at volcanoes. Teaching hydrology at the graduate/undergraduate level will also be an important facet of the position. Cheers, Mike =========== The Department of Geology and Environmental Science ( https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://geology.pitt.edu/__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!b4ZNN6ZIBSmSfJ0gu-OPQUufgaWs1kEFFvfFz3t2tXZCVBIJIl_pI1x1rMi5bt9MMvGGq78iS6t04rG62krI5zHEsA$ ) at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in hydrology and water sustainability. Given the recent and expected environmental change that impacts water quality and its presence, the Department seeks a hydrologist to develop the capacity to understand these issues of regional, national, and global importance. We seek a colleague with expertise in identifying and modeling hydrologic change (e.g., human-, climatic-, or planetary-driven shifts), and an interest in solutions to water challenges. Our goal is to hire a colleague who uses a combination of quantitative field-based measurements, data-driven modeling, or remote sensing to better understand water-climate-human interactions. Specific areas of interest include but are not limited to surface water hydrology; groundwater hydrology; the interacting roles of climate variability and land use change on hydrologic processes; physical models of ecohydrologic processes from the plot to the global scale; as well as volcanic and planetary hydrology. To ensure full consideration, complete applications should be received by October 1, 2024. However, applications will be accepted for the duration of the search until the position is filled. A Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment, with the position scheduled to begin in Fall 2025, subject to budgetary approval. Please direct questions to hydrojob@xxxxxxxx. Applications should include: 1) a one-page cover letter; 2) a curriculum vitae (CV); 3) a teaching statement of less than two pages, 4) a research statement explaining accomplishments and future plans of less than three pages, and 5) a one-page diversity statement describing how your scholarly activities (research, teaching, mentorship, service) demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion; 5) copies of three relevant publications, 6) names and contact information of four references (no letters should be submitted at this stage of the search). The University of Pittsburgh is a thriving research institution and the twelfth-largest recipient of federally sponsored research funding among U.S. universities. University of Pittsburgh faculty receive a comprehensive package of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; retirement savings/pension plans; and tuition scholarships for dependents.
