11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11 From: "Michelfelder, Gary" <GaryMichelfelder@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Dear colleagues, The School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability at Missouri State University encourages you to share information about our graduate programs <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://geosciences.missouristate.edu/GeographyGeologyGraduate/default.htm__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!Ye82cZnSOlc-zmx1ZcVlplZL_xbxwR6MXQFx01_nMddSF9Fg7fxbzGFALHg9O0Ge7eAfNLIb6VGDpUdZ3cESuJmzHuKqeoqAq3Co7A$> with promising undergraduate students who are approaching graduation. We anticipate awarding a healthy number of teaching and research assistantships for Fall 2024 and would be delighted to receive applications for admission and funding from your students. The SEES faculty members <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://geosciences.missouristate.edu/people.htm__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!Ye82cZnSOlc-zmx1ZcVlplZL_xbxwR6MXQFx01_nMddSF9Fg7fxbzGFALHg9O0Ge7eAfNLIb6VGDpUdZ3cESuJmzHuKqeopvVY489w$> are engaged researchers pursuing diverse research agendas at the intersection of the solid earth, society, and environment. The diverse specializations of the faculty create numerous opportunities for students to engage in research and contribute to our teaching mission as teaching assistants. The thesis research projects carried out by our students fall within a broad range of specializations: - Environmental Geography (environment and society, sustainability, adaptation to climate change) - Geospatial Techniques (GIS, cartography, remote sensing) - Physical Geography (biogeography, geomorphology, meteorology/climatology) - Sustainability (Tourism, Environmental hazards, Climate-change impacts) - Water Resources and Environmental Assessment (Fluvial and costal geomorphology, Watershed hydrology) - Solid Earth (Geochemistry, Structural Geology, and Petrology) A low student-to-faculty ratio and the department's emphasis on the master's programs facilitate close working relationships among faculty and students. Numerous students have published their thesis research with their advisor and gone on to top PhD programs and professional careers. Students also benefit from interacting with the Center for Resource Planning and Management (CRPM) and the Ozark Environmental and Water Resources Institute (OEWRI), both housed in the School. Our recent graduates are pursuing careers at the cutting edge of their respective fields, from applied environmental management, government positions and on to Ph.D. programs. The School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability has 20 full time faculty (18 ranked faculty) spanning a broad range of expertise and interests across the disciplines it houses ( *https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://geosciences.missouristate.edu__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!ZPUbCl2GByt2mBJlN6E2NjFMgVZuZ1gwp_wFRZ7SnOiZU-rfXxcKwXKiBQm7TUlusWrX1ifCNmGq4uxB$ <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://geosciences.missouristate.edu__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!Ye82cZnSOlc-zmx1ZcVlplZL_xbxwR6MXQFx01_nMddSF9Fg7fxbzGFALHg9O0Ge7eAfNLIb6VGDpUdZ3cESuJmzHuKqeopWm1GhGA$>*). There are 12 faculty supporting the Geography, Geospatial Sciences, and Planning programs and 8 eight faculty supporting Geology. The School grants undergraduate degrees in four majors: Geography, Geology, Planning, and Geospatial Science; an M.S. in Geography and Geology; and a broad array of certificate programs. Additionally, we participate in interdisciplinary graduate programs in Applied Science and Environmental Management. Applications are due February 2nd, 2024.
