The Yellowstone National Park Geology Program seeks 2 geoscientists to join the team as interns for 26 weeks next summer. This position is offered through the National Park Service's Scientists-in-the-Parks (SIP) Internship Program in partnership with The Geological Society of America (GSA) and are eligible for an AmeriCorps Education Award. Our Geology Program scientist interns receive a stipend of $525/week, a $400 relocation allowance and either a $125/week housing stipend or Park housing, if it is available. This position will start in May or June 2024. Our interns will work out of Mammoth Hot Springs, Wyoming (Park Headquarters). The likely office/field work ratio is 30/70 in the summer season. Our geology/geophysics interns are given the opportunity to develop and manage projects relevant to the Yellowstone Geology Program based on their skills and experience in geologic fieldwork, GIS skills and data analyses. Guest scientists are also encouraged to learn new skills while part of the Yellowstone Geology Program. Our SIP interns have been integral in creating and completing projects essential to our core mission to monitor and inventory Yellowstoneâ??s hydrothermal system and other volcanic features as well as protect other geologic resources that make the world's first national park extraordinary.
