These roles will focus on magma reservoir processes and volcano deformation, combining insights from geochemistry, volatile studies, and micro-scale mechanics & permeability, with macro-scale poroelastic solid and fluid mechanics modelling. The positions are based at the University of Exeter, on the Penryn Campus in Cornwall, just minutes from the beach, and part of the new Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. You will work with project Co-I's Fabian Wadsworth, Durham University, and Brendan McCormick Kilbride, University of Manchester. Target volcanoes & fieldwork will be at Sakurajima volcano, Japan, & Soufrière Hills volcano, Montserrat, working with the Sakurajima Volcano research centre & the Montserrat Volcano Observatory with Karen Pascal.
