*INVOLCAN and ITER (Canary Islands, Spain) seek researchers to join their
applied research programs*

Call for Expressions of Interest for Torres Quevedo Research Contracts
(Spanish government- funded permanent positions)

*The deadline to submit expressions of interest is 20 December 2022!!*

Living and conducting research based in the Canary Islands is awesome, and
this could be your opportunity to join us! The Instituto Volcanológico de
Canarias (INVOLCAN) and the Environmental Research Division of the
Instituto Tecnológico y de Energías Renovables (ITER) are looking for
researchers across a range of disciplines.

We are especially interested in the following applied industrial research
topics:

   1. Noble gas isotopes studies for geothermal exploration
   2. Agro-food traceability through the use of isotopes
   3. Evaluation of the mineral-medicinal potential of groundwaters in
   Tenerife
   4. Electromagnetic methods for geothermal exploration
   5. Geodetic methods for geothermal exploration
   6. Integrated geophysical studies for geothermal exploration
   7. Seismic source studies for the exploration and characterization of
   geothermal resources
   8. Statistical methods to evaluate the geothermal potential
   9. Seismic tomography studies for the exploration and characterization
   of geothermal resources
   10. Use of Distributed Acoustic Sensing for underground exploration for
   industrial purposes

We seek engaging researchers who will benefit from our support and
collaboration for their application to the *Torres Quevedo* *Research
Contracts* program from the Spanish Government. Spanish language skills are
not mandatory. The selected candidates will submit a research proposal
jointly with INVOLCAN or ITER to the Spanish R&D Programme.

The aim of the Torres Quevedo call is to promote the implementation of
industrial research projects. These can be experimental development or
feasibility studies within companies, national technological centres,
national technology innovation support centres, business associations and
science and technology parks. Applicants are required to hold a PhD as this
funding call aims to promote the professional careers of research staff.
This, in turn, will stimulate demand in the private sector for personnel
qualified to undertake R&D development projects, helping to consolidate and
promote new technological companies.

For those interested, your Expression of Interest should include:
(1) your C.V. reflecting established or transferable skills that meet the
requirements of one of the research project directions listed above.
(2) proof of eligibility (your PhD obtained no later than 2022)
(3) proof of citizenship (all nationalities welcome)

The characteristics of the *Torres Quevedo* *Research Contracts *are:
(a) *Permanent position* as a researcher in INVOLCAN or ITER
(b) Gross salary will be between 29.838,96 â?¬/year and 36.366,00 â?¬/year
depending on your CV.

Inquiries can be directed toward Nemesio M. Perez, Scientist-in-charge of
INVOLCAN and the Director of the ITERâ??s Environmental Research Division, at
nperez@xxxxxxx.

*The deadline for expressions of interest is 20 December 2022.*

The response from the Spanish Government will be delivered no earlier
than *October
2023*.

We hope to see you in sunny Tenerife! Did you know: the ancients called the
Canary Islands the "fortunate isles"? They weren't wrong then, and they
wouldn't be now either.

Best regards
Nemesio M. Pérez
