*Job posting: Open-Rank Curator of Mineralogy**, Division of Physical
Sciences, American Museum of Natural History *

The Division of Physical Sciences at the American Museum of Natural History
(AMNH) seeks an outstanding colleague to join the vibrant Department of
Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS). This is an open rank
tenure-track/tenured appointment to be filled at the Assistant Curator and
Assistant Professor, Associate Curator and Associate Professor, or Full
Curator and Full Professor level; career stage will be considered in
application review.

The Museum seeks an individual with core expertise in mineralogy with broad
scientific interests, focused on high-impact research. The successful
candidate will have demonstrated scientific creativity and the potential to
sustain an innovative research program in mineral science and to develop
effective collaborations and partnerships. Applicants' research focus could
engage any of the many fields encompassed by mineral sciences, e.g.,
biomineralization, carbon sequestration in mineral reservoirs,
mineralogical indicators of Earth history, advanced ore beneficiation,
critical minerals, or the broad applications of spectroscopy to mineral
sciences, to name a few fields.

Responsibilities include conducting original scientific research in mineral
science as well as active curation of the world-class AMNH mineral
collection and the new Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals. The successful
candidate will demonstrate an ability to engage in public outreach. We
welcome an interest in collaboration with colleagues within AMNH and the
regional academic community, including Columbia University and The Graduate
Center of CUNY, and in engagement with our Master of Arts in Teaching Earth
Science Residency and our Physical Sciences Research Experience for
Undergraduates programs. This position offers opportunities to develop
leadership roles in the global mineral sciences and geoscience communities.

The AMNH is a recognized leader in scientific research and academic and
public education about mineralogy. Resources available at the AMNH include
extensive geological, zoological, anthropology, and paleontology
collections; a wide range of optical, electron beam, and other analytical
tools; experimental laboratories; LA-ICPMS facilities shared with Lamont
Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University; and a generous internal
grant program to support field research across many disciplines.

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in geosciences or a closely related
field and have post-doctoral research or equivalent experience at the time
of appointment. Expected annual salary range is $120,000 to $165,000.

Applications should consist of a single pdf document that includes:

   - Cover letter (maximum 1 page)
   - Curriculum vitae
