The Observatorio Vulcanológico y Sismológico de Costa Rica at Universidad
Nacional (OVSICORI-UNA), is offering a position for a
geophysicist/geodesist specialized in crustal deformation.

The scientist will acquire, process, and analyze GPS and InSAR times series
to correlate them with the processes occurring at the five active volcanoes
in Costa Rica, as well as with tectonic activity on the subduction zone and
on the active faults of the country.  He/she will be involved in a) script
programming (Python), b) maintenance/construction of the cGNSS network and
c) geodetic surveys all over the country (GPS,UAV based photogrammetry
). He/she
will collaborate with the team to develop statistical methodology to reveal
subtle earth signals in the GPS or InSAR time series as well as using
numerical models to verify the nature of the signal.


Applicants should have at least a MSc. degree in a relevant field and
preferably experience in monitoring and studying geophysical processes
(volcanology, tectonic, subduction zone). Excellent programming skills in
languages such as Python or similar are also required. Fluent communication
in Spanish (preferred) or English is required. Good skills to work in a
multi-disciplinary team. The job requires a good physical condition and a
flexible schedule for working during a seismic and volcanic crisis. Driving
license B1 type (small vehicles, pickup trucks, and SUV).
