Huffington Department of Earth Sciences at Southern Methodist University invites applications to a fully endowed professorship named in honor of C.W. Matthews to be filled at the associate or full professor rank. We are seeking applicants with internationally recognized research programs in geochemistry, biogeochemistry or geology, including economic geology, that incorporate experimental/analytical stable isotope methods and build on existing departmental facilities and expertise. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated ability to maintain an outstanding externally-funded research program, to effectively teach and mentor a diverse student body of graduates and undergraduates, and to supervise professional staff. The department engages in fundamental and applied research using quantitative, measurement-based approaches focused on Earth system interactions with current specialties in petrology, geochemistry, biogeochemistry, tectonics, environmental studies, climate related systems, water cycle and aqueous systems, life and its history, atmospheric acoustics, remote sensing, seismology, and natural and anthropogenic hazard and risk.
