The work is funded through USAIDâ??s interagency agreement with the USGS to support the Volcano Disaster Assistance Program (volcanoes.usgs.gov/vdap). The new hires will collect detailed volcano information from a variety of online platforms in multiple languages. They will help develop and modify workflows to capture, archive, and summarize key phenomena related to volcanic unrest and eruptive activity as part of a team of scientists in the USGS and the Smithsonian Institutionâ??s Global Volcanism Program. They will prepare figures, maps, charts, diagrams, and tables as necessary for reports for scientific and public use. New hires will spend several weeks in both Vancouver, WA, and Washington, DC for training. Ideally, the new hires will be experienced with volcanological terminology and should work well as part of a team. Experience with a foreign language would be helpful.
