The position with temporary civil servant status is initially limited to 3 years, with the possibility of extension for another 3 years. *Responsibilities and duties* Responsibilities and duties include (1) development/strengthen of a research profile in isotope geochemistry and participation in research projects at the institute, (2) fund raising for research projects, (3) supervision of our clean laboratory facilities and of trace element- and isotope analyses with (LA-)ICP-MS and MC-ICP-MS and (4) contribution to teaching (4 hours/week) and supervision of students. *Employment conditions* To qualify for the position, applicants should hold a doctoral degree in geosciences, chemistry or another related topic. The geochemistry group in Hannover is specialised in the analyses of metal isotopes and application of metal isotope fractionation in a variety of different geo-environments. Research areas include Solar System formation, magma evolution and magmatic timescales, evolution of Earthâ??s oceans and atmosphere, as well as processes of metal mobilisation and enrichment. We also develop new protocols of isotope analyses, which are performed on two Neptune (Plus) MC-ICP-MS either from purified solutions or in situ, coupled to a femtosecond laser ablation system. You should have a strong background in isotope geochemistry, as recorded by publications in peer-reviewed international journals, and experience with mass spectrometry (in particular MC-ICP-MS), as well as clean laboratory techniques. Furthermore, advantageous is experience in laser ablation techniques, supervision of students and fund raising.
