Dear colleagues,

The AIV (Associazione Italiana di Vulcanologia) has organized a workshop to
commemorate Roberto Lanza (1945-2013), former Professor in Solid Earth
Physics at Torino University. The workshop will take place from 8 to 11
June 2022. The application deadline is 1 April 2022.

The workshop will take place in the form of an AIV School for young
researchers and PhD students who want to learn and discuss the applications
of paleomagnetism to volcanology. Most of the course will take place in the
field, between Vulcano and Lipari Islands (Aeolian Island, Sicily), with a
short initial part of theoretical lessons.

Please see the complete details below. For further information please write
to gianfilippo.deastis@xxxxxxx

Thank you,

Organizing Committee:

De Astis Gianfilippo (INGV - Rome)

Lucchi Federico (Bologna University)

Mana Sara (Salem State University)

Speranza Fabio (INGV - Rome)

Tranne Claudio A. (Bologna University)

Zanella Elena (Turin University)

Topic:

The workshop is focused on how paleomagnetism can be integrated to other
geological and geophysical evidence to solve interdisciplinary geologic
questions related to the general study of volcanology. This workshop will
include field trips to Lipari and Vulcano, presentations focused on
highlighting the Aeolian Islands geologic history as well as the
fundamentals of paleomagnetic techniques and their applications to
volcanology with a specific focus on the advancements achieved in this
field thanks to the pioneering work of Prof. Roberto Lanza.

Location:

Lipari and Vulcano (Italy)

Cost:

â?¬ 100, including 3 nights accommodation at Residence Baia Unci (in single
rooms or in apartments with shared bathroom/kitchen) and internal transport
(bus and boat). Travel and food at the expense of the participants.
