3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3 From: Gianfilippo De Astis <gianfilippo.deastis@xxxxxxx> WORKSHOP Paleomagnetic applications to volcanology: the case study of Lipari and Vulcano (Aeolian Islands - Italy) Dear colleagues, The AIV (Associazione Italiana di Vulcanologia), supported by INGV and IAVCEI, has organized a workshop to commemorate Roberto Lanza (1945-2013), former Professor in Solid Earth Physics at Torino University. The workshop will take place from 8 to 11 June 2022, as a School for PhD students and young researchers who want to learn and discuss the applications of paleomagnetism to volcanology. Most of the course will take place on the field, between Vulcano and Lipari Islands (Aeolian Islands, Sicily), with a short part (the first half-day) of theoretical lessons. The organizing committee is made up of: G. De Astis, F. Lucchi, S. Mana, F. Speranza, C.A. Tranne and E. Zanella, researchers who have worked intensely with Roberto Lanza especially in the field of paleomagnetism applied to volcanology. However, this workshop does not intend only to convey the scientific and intellectual heritage by Prof. Lanza. It also wants to remember his entire intellectual and human figure. Therefore, the organizers decided to leave the event open to the participation and contribution from researchers from all over the world who interacted and worked with Professor Lanza. For these people, it will probably be necessary to consider a collateral organization (accommodation, travel, etc.), which will be managed at least in part independently from the main one. This will be definitively considered when the total number of adhesions will be clear. The cost is 100â?¬, including 3 nights' accommodation and internal transports. Travel and food to be paid by the participants. The deadline is: 01 April 2022 (up to 25 participants are admitted, depending on the date of registration).
