*Abstracts are due March 1st*, with the *hybrid *conference running July
10-15, 2022 (Hawai'i and online). We welcome submissions across the fields
of submarine volcanism, hydrothermal activity, and seafloor crustal
magmatism, and highly encourage cross-disciplinary submissions related to
these fields.

*Session: 5h - Submarine volcanism and hydrothermalism: Fluids, melts, and
eruptions*
The vast majority of global volcanism, hydrothermal activity, and crustal
formation are found at the seafloor. By analysing the compositions of
hydrothermal fluids, submarine plumes and erupted volcanic products, we
improve our understanding of processes occurring within many tectonic and
marine settings. These datasets can provide insights into: mantle plume
dynamics feeding ocean island chains, styles of submarine volcanic
activity, the fractionation and evolution of magmas within the oceanic
crust, melt generation and crustal formation at mid-ocean ridges, sediment
and volatile cycling within subduction zones, and the formation of
hydrothermal regions and ore deposits around magmatic reservoirs.
Observing, sampling, and monitoring hydrothermal and magmatic activity in
these environments remains a challenge, but technological advancements,
modelling, and increased seafloor-surveying capabilities are improving our
scientific efforts. This session welcomes research utilising geochemical
and associated datasets to assess processes related to submarine volcanism,
hydrothermal activity, and crustal dynamics at the seafloor. We
particularly encourage the submission of cross-disciplinary studies across
the marine sciences that integrate geochemical, geophysical, oceanographic,
and/or computational datasets to further our understanding of seafloor
activity.
