This is a new position created in association with a multimillion-dollar
departmental gift to fund an analytical petrology laboratory and will be
being filled concurrently with two associated assistant professor faculty
searches this year (in petrology and sedimentary geology).

General Description:

*The Research Associate III will work with lab managers, users, and faculty
in both EcoCore/NREL, and with Geosciences to ensure instrumentation is in
optimal working condition, which will include scheduled maintenance and
calibration, troubleshooting hardware, software, and computer problems,
electronic and mechanical repairs, installing and testing detectors and ion
sources, designing detection systems, coordinating with manufactures for
site or remote service visits, and related activities. The position may
also involve independent or collaborative research, instrument development,
and training, depending on the applicantâ??s interests and qualifications.
The candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in
addition to technical and analytical experience with various analytical
instruments.*
