Postdoc Position in Magma Rheology at NCSU

A fully funded 2-year postdoctoral position in the field of magma rheology
is available in the Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences Department at
North Carolina State University under the supervision of Dr. Arianna
Soldati, with an expected start date of August 2022.

The project is open-ended, and prospective candidates will be able to
pursue their own research interests in a cutting edge laboratory
environment.

Dr. Soldati's laboratory, which has just been renovated, hosts a
high-temperature furnace and a concentric cylinder viscometer with
controlled atmosphere capabilities. An analogue set up for complementary
rheological investigations is being designed. Full rock prep equipment is
also available in-house. The group currently comprises two Ph.D. candidates
and an undergraduate student.

The successful candidate shall hold a Ph.D. by the start date. They will
have a strong background in volcanology and/or rheology. Previous lab-based
research experience is required.

Candidates from underrepresented groups and candidates who have followed a
non-traditional education path are strongly encouraged to apply for this
position.

Perspective applicants should contact Dr. Arianna Soldati (
a.soldati@xxxxxxxx), providing a CV, a motivation letter, and a one-page
project proposal.
