Dear colleagues,

We have three vacancies for PhD students in volcanology / geochemistry /
igneous petrology available at the University of Manchester (UK). These are
fully funded, 3-year positions, open to students of any nationality. The
deadline for applications is 12th February 2021. The projects will start in
September 2021, or earlier by negotiation. Full details on how to apply can
be found at tinyurl.com/uom-ees-apply <https://t.co/3BTb0kId3l?amp=1>.
Please share this notice with potential candidates in your networks.

One project, led by Dr David Neave (david.neave@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx), will
combine modelling, high-pressure experiments and geochemical analyses to
investigate how clinopyroxene crystals record information about magma
redox. Further details can be found at tinyurl.com/cpx-fo2-uom
<https://t.co/Dgf0HMJwRX?amp=1>.

The second project, led by Dr Brendan McCormick Kilbride, will analyse the
chemistry and isotopic composition of volcanic gases, melt inclusions and
fluid inclusions to investigate the origin and abundance of volatiles at
Rabaul caldera, Papua New Guinea. Further details can be found at https://
tinyurl.com/rabaul-volc-phd <https://t.co/SisTbnM8tq?amp=1>.

The third project, led by Dr Patricia Clay (patricia.clay@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)
will apply halogen, noble gas isotope and trace element geochemistry to
mantle xenoliths to assess the scale of chemical heterogeneity in the
Azores mantle source. Further details can be found at:

Best wishes,
