19â??30 April 2021), will close in ten days *(DEADLINE: 13 January 2021).*

Please consider submitting your contribution to the Session NH8.1:
â??Multi-risk perspectives to increase societal resilience: dealing with
natural disasters at the times of pandemicsâ??

Abstracts can be submitted to this Session via the EGU2021 Assembly web

How to deal with a pandemic when an earthquake occurs? And how to deal with
a flood emergency during a pandemic? Different hazards can combine and
mutually enhance their impact, turning into a disaster. The COVID-19
pandemic pointed out the low preparedness of human society to large-scale
crises. In particular, there have been several damaging earthquakes during
the pandemic (Croatia, USA, Iran), which highlighted the impacts of
concurrent hazards and the complexity in handling such situations. However,
recent experiences also triggered an active response in the scientific
community, which eventually contributed to further develop research and
mitigation measures. This session aims at discussing the issues that arise
in case of pandemics in combination with other risks (e.g. earthquakes,
floods, fires).
Contributions on multiple risks are welcome, including but not limited to:
studies on integrated hazards/risks; experience from recent events;
multi-risk scenarios. Contributions that foresee the comparison,
integration and cross-validation of different risk assessment models and
approaches are very welcome. The session will also collect experiences and
lessons learned from case-studies and provide useful insights for an
integrated approach.
