Dear colleagues,

The Observatorio Vulcanológico y Sismológico de Costa Rica at Universidad
Nacional (OVSICORI-UNA), is offering a position for a geoscientist
specialized in crustal deformation.

The scientist will acquire, process, and analyze GPS times series to
correlate them with the processes occurring at the five active volcanoes in
Costa Rica, as well as with tectonic activity everywhere in the country.
He/she will collaborate with the team to develop statistical methodology to
reveal subtle earth signals in the GPS or InSAR time series as well as
using numerical models to verify the nature of the signal. He/she will also
be involved in a) script programming (Python), b) maintenance/construction
of the cGNSS network and c) geodetic surveys all over the country (GPS,UAV
based photogrammetry ).

Applicants should have a least a MSc. degree in a relevant field and
experience in monitoring and studying geophysical processes (volcanology,
tectonic, subduction zone). Good skills to work in a multi-disciplinary
team. Good programming skills in language such as Python, C++ or similar
are also required. The job requires an excellent physical condition
(working several hours at more than 3000 m a.m.s.l. in harsh weather) and a
flexible schedule for working during seismic and volcanic crises. Driving
license B1 type (small vehicles, pickup trucks, and SUV). Fluent
communication in either English or Spanish is required.
