The newly formed Geophysical Detection of Nuclear Proliferation (GDNP)
University Affiliated Research Center (UARC) at the UAF Geophysical
Institute (GI) is seeking a postdoctoral fellow. The GDNP UARC was
established to detect, locate, characterize, and assess the threat
potential of nuclear activities worldwide through research, development,
testing, and evaluation of scientific and technological capabilities.

The successful applicant will help develop novel signal processing
techniques to aid in infrasonic source detection, location, and
characterization by combining data from multiple seismo-acoustic station
installation types. This position has the exciting opportunity to utilize
the unprecedented amount of seismo-acoustic data currently available in
Alaska, including the EarthScope Transportable Array. Funding is available
for two years, and remote telework options will be considered. The
successful applicant will work with members of the Wilson Alaska Technical
Center, Alaska Volcano Observatory, and Alaska Earthquake Center to help
make the developed algorithms operational. Funding for regular scientific
meetings is provided and outreach activities are encouraged. U.S.
citizenship is preferred, though not required.
