Dear Colleagues,

Weâ??d like to draw your attention to session GMPV8.3 'The Dynamics of
Magmatic Plumbing Systemsâ?? at the next EGU General Assembly, 3-8 May 2020
in Vienna. The session is part of a lively series hosted at each AGU and
EGU meeting, sponsored by both EGUâ??s GMPV and AGUâ??s VGP; it is also
sponsored by the IAVCEI Commission for Volcanic and Igneous Plumbing
Systems. The detailed description is below; the abstract submission
deadline is January 15, submit at
https://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2020/session/35183.

Wishing you a happy new year,
Chiara.

Magmatic processes occurring at depth within volcanic plumbing systems are
complex and play a fundamental role in controlling the tempo and style of
volcanic activity. To unravel the structural complexity and temporal
evolution of plumbing systems a multidisciplinary approach is necessary.
This session aims to bring together scientists working on the understanding
of the structural, chemical and temporal evolution of magmatic systems
using, for example, fieldwork, petrology, geochemistry, geophysics,
geodesy, experiments or numerical modeling to diffuse the boundaries
between disciplines and lead to a comprehensive understanding of the inner
workings of Volcanic and Igneous Plumbing Systems (VIPS).

This session is sponsored by the IAVCEI Commission on Volcanic and Igneous
Plumbing Systems.
