New Position

*Post Doc Experimental Geochemist - GNS Science (2 years) â?? Thermochemistry
of supercritical geothermal systems, Taupo Volcanic Zone New Zealand*

We are seeking a post-doctoral level researcher with a strong interest in
laboratory studies of fluid-rock interactions in supercritical geothermal
systems. The research will include laboratory simulations of fluid-rock
interactions, re-injection of off-gases from geothermal facilities (CO2,
H2S), and tracer chemical stability at supercritical conditions. The
successful candidate will engage with other Wairakei geochemists in
discussion of geothermal chemistry and other aspects pertaining to
geothermal systems. Depending on the applicant's background, specialist
skills may cover one or more of reactive transport modelling, experimental
geochemistry, and products of fluid-rock-material interaction with fluids.
The goal is to task the post-doctorate team member with complementing and
advancing the specialised experimental geochemistry skills currently
present within the group.

*Responsibilities:*

We are seeking a person with substantial experience and expertise in the
field of geochemical reactions in heat temperature and pressure
environments. The successful candidate will be expected to:

1. Develop experimental procedures to investigate fluid-rock
interactions at high temperature and pressure

2. Conduct work in the Experimental Geochemistry Laboratory

3. Interact with research programme collaborators conducting other
experimental work and modelling studies

4. Contribute to research programme reporting

5. Prepare manuscripts for publication in international peer-reviewed
journals

Candidates will show flexibility, innovation and a commitment to quality.
People skills, teamwork, and the ability to approach and interact with a
range of people are also a must.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

· Experimental laboratory skills in high temperature and pressure
geochemistry

· Background in high-temperature geochemistry/physical chemistry

· Reactive transport modelling experience

· Familiarity with geothermal/hydrothermal geochemical processes

The position is for 2 years.

Application closes on January 5th, 2020.
