From: Erin DiMaggio <dimaggio@xxxxxxx>

Hi all,

I am currently recruiting a student at the Masters level to work on a
project at Penn State studying the geochemistry and age of tephra deposits
from ~6 million year old paleontology sites in Kenya. The project is
partially funded by the National Geographic Society and is in collaboration
with researchers at the American Museum of Natural History and the National
Museum of Kenya.

This project involves laboratory preparation of samples for chemistry and
dating, and electron microprobe and laser ablation inductively coupled
plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) investigations here at Penn State.
There is also the potential for fieldwork in Kenya in August 2020.

For more information about the project, please reach out to me at
dimaggio@xxxxxxx

Applications are due Dec. 15, 2019, although there is an early deadline of
Nov. 1, 2019 for consideration of university-wide fellowships.
